The Vine Bus Rapid Transit

C-TRAN

C-TRAN's Bus Rapid Transit line “The Vine” winds along a 33 station, 5.6-mile route that travels from downtown Vancouver, WA, though the Clark College campus, and along Fourth Plain Blvd., before wrapping around the terminus station at the Westfield Vancouver Mall.

The BRT station design, nicknamed “Walking Sticks,” uses angled structural steel columns to create a playful vertical back plane which supports translucent windscreens, benches, and the sloped metal roof. The 33 stations are designed to provide a high level of passenger comfort, convenience, and safety. They reflect the character of Vancouver while keeping with the Vine’s brand identity with a translucent glowing icon that provides way finding along the corridor.

The terminus station, the Vancouver Mall Transit Center, accommodates two BRT bays and includes six fixed-route bus bays serving existing C-TRAN routes. PIVOT partnered with lead engineers WSP on the project.

PIVOT's original designs for the Walking Stick stations and Vancouver Mall Transit Center, completed in 2016, have subsequently been used for C-TRAN's current Mill Plain BRT extension.
